Loetschtal / ロッチェタールの‘怪’
Les passants de Loetschtal devront subir une rude épreuve. Durant le
Carnaval, une mascarade d’horribles Tschaeggataes, vêtus de peaux de bêtes assaillent
les rues sous un vacarme infernal, poursuivant tous ce qu’ils
rencontrent sur leurs pas. Ceci dure pendant plus d’un
mois, et se terminent le jeudi gras, en un cortège de ceux-ci, avec les chars.
The people of Loetschtal should undergo a hard time throughout the Carnival period. A group of T’s, dressed up with terrifying masks and dressed up with animal skin. They invade the streets with infernal uproar, running after everything they find on their way. This lasts during the whole period of Carnival, ending up on Fat Tuesday in a parade, together with the floats.
カーニバルの期間中村人はずっと、この恐ろしい目に遭い続けねばならない。動物の毛だらけの面を被った連中が、大騒ぎで村を駆け巡り、道行く人に襲い掛かる。 このイベントは カーニバルの期間中続き、‘肉の火曜日’のパレードで、チャガタ共が山車と共に行進して、その幕を下ろすのだ。
Autrefois, l’aspect de cette coutume fut bien différent ; ce fut un moment de
défoulement de célibataires, déguisés dans les costumes de peaux de bêtes,
commettant de vols, bagarres, violes, etc.. Cette coutume se termina apparemment
en fin de 19e siècle par l’intervention d’un prieur de Kippel.
Once upon a time, this habit was carried out differently; it was a moment of ‘’unwinding’’ of bachelors, normally a social outcast, creating thieves, fights, sexual abuses...This habit apparently met an end by the intervention of a prior of Kippel.
その昔、この週間は ‘古いカーニバル’といわれ、日頃うだつのあがらぬ独身者が村の支配者に生まれ変わり、動物の皮をすっぽり被って騒ぎまわり、盗みや喧嘩をしたり、女性を襲ったりして鬱憤を晴らしたものだ。この好ましからぬ習慣は前世紀末、キッペル村の僧院長の鶴の一声で廃止となったそうだ。
En cherchant plus loin, on retrouve cette coutume vers l’age de la pierre ;
apparemment les immigres de fin fond d’Asie envahirent la vallée,
vêtus de peaux de moutons et d’horribles masques de sorcières,
attaqua les villageois, créant d’atrocités.
Looking further, this habit can be found at the time of Stone Age, where barbaric immigrants from Asia, dressed up in horrible witch masks and with animal skin, repeated attacks to village residents, creating atrocity of all kinds.
更にこの習慣の起源を辿ってゆくと、石器時代に遡ることになる。この頃、アジアから来た蛮族が村を見下ろす森に陣取り、夜な夜な羊の毛皮を被り、恐ろしい面を被り、蛮性を張り上げて重装備で村人を襲ったことから来ているという。
Ainsi, les résidents de Loetschtal reproduisent cette coutume de longue
date, mais adaptent au goût contemporain, avec une allure plus ‘gentil’. La manifestation se passe surtout le week-end et dans la soirée. Les
touristes curieux peuvent savourer cette atmosphère le 2 mars, vers 20:00 à
Blatten ou le 4 mars vers 14:00 à Wiler, les deux villages représentatifs de la
vallée.
Thus, the L residents reproduces this habit of tradition, but adapted to the taste of today, with more gentle aspects. The event takes place especially during weekends, and in evenings. Curious tourists can savour the atmosphere by visiting the masquerade at 8pm on March 2nd at Blatten or at 2pm 4th March at Wiler, in two most representative villages of the Valley.
祖先に忠実をまもるロッチェタール人は夜、特に週末、集まってこの騒ぎを再現するのである。好奇心に満ちた観光客は、この模様をロッチェタールのブラッテン村では3月２日夜8時、ヴイラー村では3月４日午後2時から夫々開催されるパレードで見ることが出来る。
